Zach King is an American filmmaker, content creator, YouTube sensation and Vine star famous for his six-second videos known as “magic vines”, where clever digital editing produces phenomenal illusions. Nicknamed the “digital magician”, King has been posting videos to YouTube for over a decade, winning the Hewlett-Packard commercial contest in 2010 and the YouTube NextUp Creators contest in 2013.He has since appeared on US reality game show The Amazing Race with his wife Rachel Holm in 2015.
Born in Portland, Oregan, King set up his FinalCutKing.com website in 2008 offering online training on using editing software Final Cut Pro, starting his YouTube channel at around the same time. King found his first big break after posting the Jedi Kittens video on YouTube in 2011. The fun, playful video showing two cats having a lightsabre fight quickly went viral, amassing over a million views in three days before eventually reaching 14 million. King then released the sequel, Jedi Kittens Strike Back, which has now been watched over 17 million times. In 2013, King’s success resulted in YouTube naming him as one of the 25 most promising young film-makers in America.
King set up a Vine account in 2013, before going on to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January 2014 making Vines with some of the crew. This viral video mastermind has also been asked to create Vines for Lego, Disney, Kellogg’s and the band Rudimental. King continues to create magical videos that he shares with his 25 million online fans: not only an imaginative content creator but a successful entrepreneur, he recently released a trilogy of interactive books that come to life with a downloadable app.
